The development of a battery recycling facility in Ingleburn first took place in 2016.

Horizon engineers were engaged to provide engineering services for this development.

The plant is the first of its kind in Australia imported for South Korea.

The proposed huge battery recycling facility at Ingleburn NSW has the ability to process up to 18000 tons of used acid batteries per year. Horizon Engineers were commissioned to design and detail the massive intricate structural support system for the plant. We also undertook the design and detail of the hydraulic and fire protection systems.

The design had a number challenges, one of which is the coordination of the structural elements with the South Korean imported plant which required a number of complicated support system. Additional challenge was the language barrier, our communication with the plant suppliers was through translators.

Overall the project was a success and the battery recycling facility is due to open in full operation 2019- 2020
